All Herbal Medicine or Herbalism
from:All herbal medicine is an alternative medicine which has been used for a very long time and has proven over that period to offer a variety of health benefits. All herbal medicine is available in quite a few different forms such as dried plants, extracts, teas, powders, capsules and tablets.
Known more generally as herbalism, this form of medicine involves the use of plants which are useful to the overall maintenance of health in both humans and also animals.
In terms of the history of this form of medicine, it is basically impossible say the time that it was introduced. However, archaeological remains from early civilizations have revealed that plants were used in burials and other rituals, and the earliest written account of herbal remedies comes from China and dates as far back as 2800BC.
What it is All Herbal Medicine
In the America, all herbal medicine generally refers to a system of medicine that uses European or North American plants. Traditional Chinese medicine uses plants native to China or Asia, while Ayurvedic herbal medicine uses plants native to India. Modern herbalists use plants from many different regions of the world and do not restrict their practices only to those plants that are classified as an herb. This is one of the biggest differences between their and other forms of all herbal medicine.
Usually the specific ingredient in the herb causes the therapeutic effect, although there are many factors that will affect how effective an herb will be in a treatment. Professional herbalists today who work with the all herbal medicine as a career, prefer to use whole plants as opposed to extracting single parts from them. It is reasoned that whole plants have many parts which combine and work together to produce the therapeutic effect and also lessen the chance of side effects from any one part.
All herbal medicine is basically very safe, although it is always important that you consult with your doctor before you start any of these treatments to ensure that you will not be putting yourself at any risk. This is especially important if you already take any kind of medication as it may well be that herbal products could have an adverse effect when mixed with prescription drugs.
As long as you talk it over with your doctor first however, you should have no problems and should start noticing the effects of the treatment almost immediately.
