The RISKS of Systemic Yeast Infection
from: Linda AllenSystemic yeast infection is the result of Candida evolving from its usual state of yeast to take on the form of fungus, invading the blood circulation, liver and urinary tract. Also known as "opportunistic" for the way it infects, it is a threatening overgrowth condition where Candida moves deep into areas of the body.
Compared to local subtypes, systemic yeast infection is very hard to detect and eliminate.
Three levels of candidiasis exist, ranked according to severity:
1. Occasional yeast infection (for example, oral yeast infection, vaginal yeast infection, male yeast infection), occurring at least once in a lifetime in three quarters of the population, especially women and infants.
2. Chronic or recurring candidiasis, possibly a symptom of more serious problems such as an impacted immune system.
3. Systemic yeast infection, affecting the whole body and not just one part, generating symptoms such as fatigue, lethargy, debilitation, dizziness, sensory disorders, gastrointestinal problems like oral Thrush, headaches from migraine, muscular pain, breathing disorders, diarrhea, constipation and rectal itching.
Conditions encouraging systemic yeast infection are those occurring when the immune system fails to master Candida and/or when there are high levels of sugar/acid or toxins in the intestinal tracts. When the immune system does not keep the upper hand on Candida growth in your body, the condition turns into one of systemic candidiasis. When Candida species, represented naturally in warm moist parts of the body (vagina, mouth and intestines), multiply without restraint, yeast infections are the result.
Advanced systemic yeast infection may have a serious impact on the well-being and regular activities of any person. When systemic Candida infection occurs, Candida starts to occupy all body parts and organs, including the digestive system, liver, eyes, skin and blood, esophagus, and respiratory system.
Moreover, different external factors can exacerbate a systemic candidiasis already in progress. These include foods on which the yeast feeds, antibiotics, contraceptive pills, tight clothing and stress. There is no unique cause for systemic Candida infection, which can be triggered by different internal situations, for example a fragile immune system, low numbers of white blood corpuscles (granulocytopenia), a poor quality diet and lifestyle, neglect of a local yeast infection and the disappearance of positive bacteria.
Due to several causes or factors or a group of conditions and circumstances, it is now widely accepted that excessive yeast multiplication in the body comes from a deeper internal problem of balance. With this in mind, planning a holistic remedy for this medical condition is a wise move. Prior to holistic programs, the assumption was that yeast infections acted on a local basis and could be fought with anti-fungal medication rubbed into the affected area.
Certain foods (particularly sugars and refined carbohydrates) encourage the yeast that is in turn boosted by high-sugar environments. Large amounts of probiotics, vegetables (especially green ones) and healthy fats (for example coconut oil and avocado) are needed to build back up a healthy intestinal flora. It may already be highly beneficial for systemic candidiasis patients to decline candy, products made with flour and refined flour (glutinous grains, pasta, bread and cereals are all examples), as well as cutting down on dairy products, alcohol, fruit and soy products (the majority of these contain anti-nutrients). This is only one part of the whole solution. An important point is that overall holistic treatment is not the same as simple changes in diet.
Dietary changes such as these can bring immediate alleviation, but it is in together with a full program of holistic treatment for systemic yeast infection (such as herbal cures, homeopathic remedies, changes in diet, lifestyle and detoxification) that this works much better than most classical treatments that only act superficially for this condition. It is the holistic approach that enables the treatment of the hidden reasons for systemic yeast infection.
